Stop fearing your To-Do List

Hi, lovely Soul Drop! How are you feeling today? As I said yesterday I’m giving out some tips to deal with that procrastination that’s only adding to your stress.

Let me ask you first, why are you avoiding that task? Probably you feel like you won’t be able to handle it or that maybe it will be too hard to do. That’s perfectly okay, breathe.

As the title says, before anything else you need a To-Do list! Why? Because this will aid you visualize the day and actually give you a map so you know what you need to do instead of just winging it.

Things to take into consideration while you do your To-Do list:

1. Priorities! I know sometimes we wish the day had more than 24 hours but the reality is that it doesn’t so whatever you expend your time in must be prioritized so important stuff is done before the rest.

2. If spending time on your social media is part of your priorities set a time for yourself and respect it. Add it to the list but be careful for it to have a limit so it won’t take precious time you need for something else.

3. Adding even the most banal tasks to your list like brushing your teeth or eating breakfast will aid you to stay motivated!

Having these three rules in mind you’re ready to create your list! So now, what do you do?

Whatever you might be afraid of is not actually as bad as you think, to help you ease the fear try to divide the big task into little ones. Each time you cross them off you’ll feel a boost of confidence that will help you move on! For those of you who like video games then you can think of it as completing missions to level up!

Always keep in mind the reward of doing all of the things in your list, what will you accomplish with them? We all have a motivation for doing what we do and keeping it in mind will help you stay on track.

Don’t be so hard on yourself! Set realistic expectations for what you can actually do in a day. This will avoid the feeling of unworthiness we get when we don’t manage to do that almost impossible task we gave ourselves. Step by step you’ll get there!

The tasks must be hard enough to avoid boredom but not sooo hard you’ll be super anxious and tired afterward.

Try to be as efficient and focused on the task as possible. Don’t do unnecessary things, this might seem obvious but how many times have we found ourselves doing something we don’t even know why are we doing it? Focus on your goal and complete the tasks first!

WARNING: giving ourselves little breaks is absolutely necessary if you burn out then you won’t be able to work properly! Drink water, try to sleep well, take care of yourself so you can do the things you must.

If we follow these things we’ll be more productive and less afraid of our To-Do list! I recommend Remente as an app that helps you keep your goals and progress in mind as you check off those tasks. Is there any app you use? Any trick I didn’t put here? Share it in the comments!

Thank you so much for reading!

With love, Bel.
