Want to give? Learn to receive!

Hello, lovely Soul Drop! How are you feeling today?

In this post, I’d like to advise you about learning how to receive and why is this so important for a healthy relationship.

Most of the comments I hear about relationships talk about people who don’t know how to give causing the relationship to deteriorate and fail. However, not knowing how to receive is equally as damaging!

A healthy relationship needs to have reciprocity, and for that, both parties must be willing to take in what their partner is giving them. Ask yourself if you allow your significant other to actually love you as they are trying to do so! If that’s not the case, follow these three simple steps:

1. You deserve love! When we don’t feel like we deserve something, we either consciously or subconsciously reject it. Everyone deserves kindness and compassion! If you feel like you don’t deserve any of that, practice introspection (preferably with a professional) so you can break down those walls. Remember, no healthy relationship is one-sided.

2. Listen to your partner! Maybe you’re not even aware that they are trying to express their love to you while you are avoiding it. People express love differently! Learn about how your partner communicates best with their emotions and accept that as their love language. That way you’ll be able both to spot and understand when your partner is showing you how much they love you.

3. Communicate openly! For a relationship to thrive you need effective communication to be present. Express to your partner how you would like to be loved, and what do you expect from your relationship together. This way, both of you will be on the same page when it comes to giving and receiving affection.

Keep in mind a loving healthy relationship is something both parties constantly work on! It takes two to tango, right?

I hope this helped somehow! If you know someone who needs to read this, share it with them!

With much love,

Bel.
